Introducing Triple Oak Enterprises.
A business incubator and vehicle for experimentation based in Austin, TX.
Our ventures
Right now, we’re just getting started as a side hustle, so we’re starting small with a consulting practice, Collins Content Consulting that capitalizes on more than 20 years of experience in the content and publishing industry.
But we think big, and so there may be more ventures in the future.
Stay tuned!

How we work
We fall back on these rules in times adversity to keep moving forward.
Take the next step.
We don’t have to know every piece of the journey, but we can always keep moving. Call it momentum, call it iteration, call it what you want, but we find “take the next step” to be a helpful mantra when times get tough.
Share ideas and seek feedback.
It’s tempting to be precious with our ideas and our work. Someone might steal it, after all! But we need to remember that the act of sharing our work helps us master it better, and then feedback from other viewpoints is a gift.
Apply a framework.
The world is full of patterns. If we’re stuck–and even if we’re not–it’s a good idea to use existing frameworks. If you can explain how your work fits a framework–or multiple frameworks!–you’re on your way to progress.
Follow your gut.
A lot of the business world prides itself on being data driven. Or, if you’re like us, you might succumb to analysis paralysis. When in doubt, follow your instincts. And if you can phrase the instinct as a hypothesis to test, all the better!
Hypothesize and test.
As much as our website biographies may paint us as experts, we’re not know-it-alls. We’re always learning, so we can borrow from the scientific world and the design industry by forming a hypothesis and then putting it to the test.
Leadership of Triple Oak Enterprises
John Collins
CEO
A former award-winning journalist, Collins has about 30 years experience in publishing and the content industry, with about half of that being in two publicly-traded software companies where he’s learned to apply design thinking to UX problems, content problems, and business process problems. He’s also picked up product management skills and built a network of trusted contacts across the tech industry.
Collins has a history of being deeply rooted in his communities, serving in a variety of roles in small, startup churches around the country. He currently volunteers as a firefighter, emergency medical technician, and emergency management professional and is president of a volunteer fire department.
